2A English Programme ISMIN EI24 – S8

 

Part 1

 

This semester will begin with a 7-week module on the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (3 Feb -- 24 Mar 2026). Students will also have 4 tutorial sessions. Lesson length will be 1 hour and 30 minutes.

 

Attendance is compulsory. Any absence from a test or presentation without a valid justification (ex. medical certificate) will result in a grade of 0/20. In the event of more than 3 absences, you may be required to take a re-sit exam, but your grade for the semester will be capped at 10/20.

 

If you are absent with a valid justification. It is up to you to reschedule a time for a make-up exam directly with your professor before the start of the second part of your second semester or before your departure for studying abroad.

 

5 minutes late = registered as being absent.

 

Students will engage in dialogue, study primary source documents, formulate written and oral responses, while better understanding the concept of SDGs and realizing that everyone is an active participant in his/her community. References may be made to documentaries, movies and series based on related themes, ex. RBG, Feminists - What Were They Thinking?, Dark Waters, The Pursuit Of Happiness, Our Planet...

 

 

 

Evaluations for Part 1

 

                Writing/20:
                Essay (»350 words) in lesson 4, ie 3 March 2026 (researched SDG topic) - 25%

                Written test in lesson 6, ie 17 March 2026 (SDG topic connected to class content) - 25%

 

                Speaking/20:
                SDG presentation in tutorial n. 3 ie 10 March 2026 - 25%

                SDG presentation in tutorial n. 4 ie 24 March 2026 - 25%

 

 

 

Part 2

 

This part of the semester will concern only those students who remain onsite, who will have 8 more weeks of English (7 Apr -- 2 June 2026) and 3 more tutorial sessions. Classes will be 1 hour and 30 minutes. This second module will result in a pass/fail grade, with a fail grade resulting in a non-acquisition of 3 ECTS.
